We received an update from the Division of Fire Safety Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement and the Department of Community Affairs regarding fire inspections. The statement made by the Division of Fire Safety Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement in the Department of Community Affairs pertains to performing fire inspections. In the release it states that the state Division is cancelling certificate of smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, and portable fire extinguisher compliance (CSACMAPFEC) inspections, and is recommending that local inspection agencies are doing so as well. They also recommend that the municipalities switch to an affidavit system that will allow for postponement of inspections until the emergency has died down so that closing can happen. (READ RELEASE)
